Call for K-12 educators! Come to the Henry and explore Vortexhibition Polyphonica, a new and dynamic exhibition of the museum's collection. Join in lively discussions about art and meaning with the Henry's education and curatorial staff. Learn how to analyze and make associations between the wide spectrum of the Henry's holdings: 19th-century paintings, contemporary art and photography, textiles and ceramics, and the many other art objects on view. Explore ways to engage your students in discussions about art in a classroom and gallery setting. Take a close look at your classroom's curriculum and find ways to infuse the art on view into social studies, language arts and other areas of study. Classroom ready art lessions will be demonstrated in the Studio. Participants will also get a sneak preview of photography exhibitions Eirik Johnson: Sawdust Mountain and Polaroids: Mapplethorpe opening on October 24th. The training will include a CD-ROM with information, lessons and images.

Workshop is available for 4 clock hours. $15 workshop fee includes materials and lunch.

Education programs at the Henry Art Gallery are made possible with generous support from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, ArtsFund, The Boeing Company, PONCHO, 4Culture/King County Lodging Tax Fund, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Washington State Arts Commission.

Henry Art Gallery

The Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington engages diverse audiences in the powerful experience of artistic invention and serves as a catalyst for the creation of new work that inspires and challenges. Exhibitions, collections, and public programs stimulate research and teaching at the University of Washington, provide a creative wellspring for artists, students, and educators, and reveal a record of modern artistic inquiry from the advent of photography in the mid-19th century to the multidisciplinary art and design of the 21st century.
